Alright, I'm asking for some serious, logical advice please . My wagon is getting old and about to hit the 100k mark. Although having a Frontmount and 20G is pretty badass, the gains from having a protuned Vf39 is minimal. With a 6 speed, the gears are so short, the 20G is very torquey but not any faster than a stock STI. Lag is pretty harsh, so coming out of a corner takes a bit of finesse to hit the nice powerband. In other words, unless I'm driving at 110+mph, my setup is no better than stock sti (in my opinion). My motor usually tops out at 6200rpm while STIs still have more. So, I can probably get rid of the FMIC, the 20G, the injectors, intake and replace with stock injectors, VF39, and STI top mount. Pro tune will put me about 370 crank hp. Boost lag will be minimal. Final note, the reason I'm asking about this is because I might be coming upon a 71 Datsun 510 project car. The extra funds will go towards the datto and quite honestly, there's no reason to have 2 race cars, maybe just 1 and a half

so u are asking?? should u take off ur fmic, 20g etc... and sell it for ur vf39 setup. then get the datsun and mod that??
or are u getting the datsun no matter what? so should u keep or sell off ur current subie setup?
or should u even buy the datsun? bc u can only get it if u sell off ur 20g and support mods with the extra money

Sorry for the confusion. I've always wanted to get a datsun and my chance is coming up. But with all of the trouble I've been having with the wagon lately (mostly out of wear & tear), I was wondering if I should de-mod for longevity purposes. Having a datsun for a project is more motivation to shift the funds and still have a new, safe, family car. So should I de-mod?

since you are getting the datsun to use for racing purpose also i said demod the wagon to the VF39 so it be a better daily driver. It be expensive to maintain both vehicles since the datsun will be very old and dont know what problems maybe persist in it and since your still having wear and tear issue with the wagon that will only add to the problem.

Update:
The 510 I wanted isn't available, so I have some more room to deal with the wagon. Here's a list of things:
- Front driver's wheel bearing. All other 3 corners are in good shape - Massive cracks in my one piece headers. I need to remove piping, turbo, exhaust, a bunch of stuff to get to them - PCV valve needs replacement. I'm losing about 1qt of oil a week. I need to remove throttle body to get to it. - Passenger axle? weird drivetrain vibrations - Fuel filter - Motor mounts super mushy - Swaybar mounts have a stripped nut. Only way to get to this is to remove entire subframe - Steering rack also sloppy, maybe bushings will resolve them - Sideskirts need painting and installation - Front bumper is still very messed up, waiting for funds to make insurance claim
As you can see, I have a lot of work to do

Yeah, service is a bit slow with FP. But considering I was able to get 60k harsh miles out of a used FP, AND it was an oil starvation problem (see above PCV problem), I'm pretty happy so far. I will probably have the headers done this saturday. I'm traveling in NorCal right now so the wagon is completely taken apart in the garage waiting to be fondled again. If I have time, I might tackle the PCV valve since turbo is out and I have a little bit of room. Ahh, the 510. Anything with a straight body and no cancerous rust will work. I dont' care if it's running because I will probably slap in a VG30 (3.0L V6) from either 300z, pathfinder, truck, maxima, whatevers. Obviously it will be from 69-72. I will also go for the pickup 521 model also. I'm constantly on craigs for most of california, dimequarterly, and several datsun boards. An "Anson Wagon Overhaul" sounds pretty awesome to me. My place is within stumbling distance of a lot of places.
