Found this by accident while browsing for other techincal info.  I've always wondered if it was possible because of the width clearance.  Even more curious was the layout for AWD, but not enough front overhang in the 510.  Does this dude have to put holes in his wheel well to get to the sparkplugs?!

 Shocked Shocked Shocked

mods are as follows;
ej20 bored 40tou with forged pistons.
celica 5 speedbox
toyota dyna clutch
front mount intercooler
vf34 turbo
120y booster 15/16 master cylinder
commodore calipers and ventilated discs from swr
subaru diff
n13 radiator
custom headers
3" exhaust.

FINALLY I FOUND SOME OF THESE PIX!!!

You have no idea how long I have been trying to find pix of someone who did this. I heard about it a few months ago and have been looking ever since. My buddy owns a datsun 510, REALLY wants to restore it. Thing needs it.. BAD. I can see the ground underneath the gas pedal due to rust eating away at it.

ANYWAYS. I wanted to show him these pix because he seriously considered doing this. He's mechanically savvy so the pix will do. Changing spark plugs looks like it must require pulling the engine every time though. Must be a bitch.

well, if he does it, I might have to also Smiley

My 71 datsun truck has the following options, in order of difficulty:

1) L20B w/5 speed   (currently has L16, easy peezy)
2) VG30DE(T) w/5speed  (aftermarket kit avail.  mounts, oilpan, steering linkage)
3)  RB25DET  w/5speed  (who knows what kind of fabwork is needed)
