This thread is to document my cluster swap. 2004 Sti cluster in to a 2002 bugeye.



1st I will change and modify this thread as anson and I are using it as a means of
communication with pics

heres the 2002 WRX cluster  and 2004 Sti cluster .. NO CUTTING is required to connect the plugs on an 04 Sti cluster. However, the connectors are upside down on the Sti cluster as opposed to the wrx cluster.

the clips my be upside down but are the pins correct too...

It's connector B, pins 27 & 28.  B27 & B28 are ground  They are supposed to short out with one another, but it seems the WRX harness isn't thinking the same thing.  a signal somewhere needs to be clipped to stop the short.

I guess I'll need to find some Bugeye manuals to see what's going on.

04 WRX
----------
B27 = ? ? ? ?
B28 = Cruise Control lamp


04 STi
----------
B27 = Ground
B28 = Ground


Assuming the 04 WRX and 02-03 harnesses are the same, there's a chance the cruise light shorted out the ground...since B27 and B28 are connected, the 2 "burns" are evident.

I found the service manuals for 2002 WRX.  it will take me a while to comb through the Combination Meter section.  I didn't find the signal at quick glance.
