you can get a good used SLR and spend the money on a good lens.  I mean a GOOD lens.  The lens I'm using is rented, but retail value is $1200.   Why spend 1.5k on a body to come with a $200 dollar lens?  Buy a good used body for $400 and spend the money on a good lens.
